Who’s Involved

The ‘Think Logistics’ initiative was thought up by Steve Granite who is the Managing Director of Abbey Logistics Group in Liverpool. Steve joined the Logistics industry at the age of 15 from All Saints RC High School in Kirkby and has gone from a trainee Accountant to the Managing Director of the business at the age of 29.

Steve was concerned by the shortage of young people joining the Logisitcs industry in all roles from drivers to accountants as the business he worked for would suffer in the future unless the situation changed. His aim was to help bridge the gap between young people who are looking to get into a rewarding career and Logistics companies looking for young people. The initiative has been supported by a range of companies who formed a steering group to manage the process and they have invested a lot of time, for free to make this happen. These companies included;-

Since the steering group launched the initiative lots more companies have joined to support including well known names such as Eddie Stobart, Catepillar UK and DHL Freight. Think Logistics wants small, medium and large companies to get involved as all are an integral part of this great industry.

The plan is to deliver the ‘Think Logistics’ workshop to 1,000 young people in 2015/2016 so if you are a school that wants a Logistics company to get involved with your students or you are a Logistics company looking to get involved with a school then please contact ian.nichol@careeracademies.org.uk or go to the to download area to download the documents needed to run a Think Logistics session.
